good tone doesn't have to be something complicated, nor something incredibly difficult to get. Also the bollster really only plays power chords in that video. would have been nice to hear some starla solo to show the thing off. Of course that may be editing on Reverend's part.

I applaud Ryan Adams effort to try and bang Swizzle (I mean that's what that was all about right?). Anyway, we've had much worse pops stars in recent memory.

back to tone: I agree with the MTAE tone. def sounds better than Oceania, but I think i actually like the Oceania songs better. It would have been interesting to have Jimbo on that record.

With Jimmy drumming on Oceania it would have been only slightly better than Zeitgeist. Weird psychedelic folk instead of weird proto-metal or whatever the fuck Zeitgeist is. Either way, both are bad albums and would both be with Jim-Dawg behind the throne.

I don't agree. Oceania would have a decisive quality advantage over Zeitgeist had Jimmy played on it. The whole album is much more organic and natural feeling, and overall the songs are better. About a third of the tracks are still very bad, but it's better than anything else the reformed band has produced. Jimmy's drums are the only thing Z has going for it that brings it on par with O.

Monuments was the most "nothing" release to me, as in there is no content there worth remembering. It's not as offensive as some of the early Teargarden stuff, but there's just nothing interesting going on there at all.
