I can't make sense of the sentiment of your post, and so you just come across as a moron, which may well be what the case is. What don't you like about the stats? Reality hurts, for some, I guess.

So.. would mandating health care then improve our ranking on that scale more than it hurts our ranking on the personal freedoms scale?

I've made sure that Canada, the USA, and for the most part, the UK are included in each list as those are the places people reading this will most commonly be from. I'm Canadian, and I'm surprised by the maths proficiency rating of the country. The health care system's rating is enlightening and makes sense, as we have problems with doctor shortages and wait times. The gross national income for Canada makes me wonder, as I saw it stated on a recent cover of a Macleans magazine that Canadians are on average richer than people in the USA (though I didn't read the article to find out more). Canada's peace rating is unsurprising, though I wouldn't be surprised if it became worse in the next report. |

If you read that (and obviously I forgot to adjust that specific list accordingly) then you know to start with #2 on the list as the verified #1's, so the list would go.
Most Personal Freedoms rankings by the World Liberty Index: 1. Ireland - Switzerland - Iceland - Finland - Netherlands - Denmark - Norway 2. Slovak Republic 3. Czech Republic - Slovenia 4. Estonia 5. New Zealand - Hungary - Sweden 6. Austra - Lativa 7. Belgium - Germany 8. Canada - Lithuania . . 18. United States Very simple process. It seems that you're just a pissy person, no doubt it makes you very desirable. |

For other readers, it's surely easy to see how. But for someone who'd ask that question, they likely wouldn't understand even if it were explained to them in basic terms, maybe by choice. If you can figure out how the recent economic crash in the USA might affect its ranking in some of those lists, then you can piece together the same for Iceland.

I feel safe in assuming that no one cares that you find any of those lists meaningless. To compare this data to asking a person what their favorite colour is, is fallacious - since personal opinion or arbitrary favoritism is not a component of any of those lists. Your huffing and puffing is a waste of time. |

Hey, America is still above average! I'm happy.
I think we all have to get over feeling like there's something wrong if America is not tops in everything. We had a good run. Our education ranking is the only one I am really troubled with (as my fiance can attest -- who is a public school teacher --, the public school system has severe issues). We need to somehow get that fixed (and in my opinion, more government influence and spending will only make matters worse). |
