i got an email yesterday from my lawyer richard asking me to come in next tuesday to "rehearse my testimony". que cool! the arbitration hearing is friday, the 7th, and i begin school the day before on the 6th.

what a perfect time for this to wrap up. now i just hope it is in my favor.

my lawyer said they offered settling for some paltry amount which he told them would not interest me. at this point, i said, we'd be chumps to take less than his original ask before a suit was even filed. my former employer and their lawyer dragged this on for well over a year, plus the employer did that illegal thing that caused this whole thing.

arbitration is at 9 a.m. i was a little nervous immediately after rehearsing my testimony with my lawyer because i want to remember to say everything that is important. but now i am just straight pumped y0. i can't stop smiling or wringing and rubbing my hands in excitement.

not good. mandatory arbitration is a new thing according to my lawyer and a way for the courts to clear their backlog of cases and move less serious suits through the courts quickly. he also warned me they don't often lean in favor of the employee. he was right and the judge awarded the defendant, but both sides in the case have the ability to reject the decision, which I have decided to do with my lawyer.

it's gonna cost another $750 to reject the decision, but i trust richard when he tells me the arbitration process is meant to protect employers and discourage employees. i trust that taking this to a court trial will set the truth free!

i mean, one of the reasons the judge gave for awarding my former employer is that i did not complain to upper-management when i received two write-ups in one day (even though going to upper-mgmt is what got me written up for insubordination anyway). He also said my safety complaints were not in the OSHA purview, which I really didn't get. He had his decision all written down before he even heard any testimony, too.

My lawyer's asst said she had never heard someone misinterpret the law to that extent. FWIW, the arbitration judges consist of old white retired lawyers.

reprise my parents teach at a university that is attached to florida hospital. so i get free tuition if i attend. right now i am a general studies student but the idea is to go for a bs in radiology or sonography. so i would be a fool (zarathrustra) not to take advantage. i hated teaching anyway.

there are some challenges though. most of the faculty are sda and quite a few detest me. it isn't pleasant when your teacher tells the class about spokeo.com (a website where you can look up background info on others) in the first ten minutes of class.
