the vocal mix is terrible.
why in gods name didn ´t anyone notice this who was involved?
the song is pretty cool but the vocals (or the mix at least) absolutely kills it.

it's really dry, yeah, but i don't think that's the big problem.

the big problem is that the delivery is goddamn wimpy

I'm really glad I bought a $15.00 iTunes card when I visited US earlier this year. I knew it would come in handy sooner or later... But I'm down to about $1.00 after the preorder. hehe. About Doomsday Clock, the song definitely has some depth and lasting appeal with all that layered sound.

So is there any lead in Doomsday clock or just elephant samples?

the delivery is out of what i get the biggest kick. it has an air of defeated sarcasm and gives the groove a more laid-back feel than it has live.

I agree, the chorus kind of ruins it though.

Zero is plodding and stiff. don't get me wrong, it's my absolute favorite Smashing Pumpkins song, and that's integral to why. the stiffness is a defining part of the so-called cyber-metal stuff, to my ears. it's just not what i would call groove.

This song was going to be perfect. Sounds like a real band jamming. Until your hear 12 Billys taking over the last part of the chorus, and that stupid bridge.

That was so underwhelming.

Getting scared. Billy sounds so forced/tired and the mix is too dry....

i suppose groove can be taken different ways. I think the main zero riff is musically quite fluid for the metal sound of the song. The lyrics are quite stiff you're right. That combination is why it always stuck out and made it a great song. Doomsday clock reminds me greatly with the stiff lyrics and chugging guitars/bass. Zero seems to have a more dynamic and perhaps untraditional "plod" which is why i consider it to have more groove so to speak.

I don't think vocal mix ruined the song, it did so for Tarantula, but DC is a nice mix now, sort of Zero out-of-tune vocals.

So once more we've got Tomy's: my first Rock riff. some terrible lyrics. Forgettable melodies. Same as with Tarantula the only interesting portion is the niddle 8 that brings us back to the final chorus. I wince every time he does that ascending "you should want it all" thing though.

This is laughably bad. Lol.

The riffs sound like bad castoffs from MCIS sessions. And the vocals just sound like pure shit. I'm not knowledgeable of recording stuff but they sound completely removed from the rest of the track and totally bored. The vocals sounds like a rehearsal take.

Also the song doesn't go anywhere. It pretty much just mopes along, upping the BPM's a bit would have helped the energy. So lethargic.
