Chrysanthemum
is such an amazing song, and if no version ever exists than the shitty quality Glass House, I will be depressed,

I can still remember sat up on the pc sometime in the early hours of the morning when that was put online after the first show and downloading it and being quite excited.
Of course my most prominent memory of listening to that first recording at the glass house was the cock in the crowd who did the two most hilarious and stupid screams in the history of crowds on bootlegs. |

I'm getting tired of everyone talking about how great this song is. It's not that amazing. It's just faster than most zwan stuff.
People get over that song. It's not even close to being the best of the first 12 zwan songs. |

i don't think i've even heard anyone mention that song before here... dunno why you are getting so defensive about someone liking it... It was my favorite song at the end of the night.
I remember being at the Glass House show, and just how amazing that song will always be for me... just the mystery of the whole show was amazing, and getting to observe the band afterward (who knew there would be such a combustion afterward) when they all hugged each other in the shitty ass hooker sludge covered couch green room of the Glass House. I think Chrysanthemum was obviously a part of Billy trying to convey that the past is to be let go of and its time to go full steam ahead... oh and Jimmy's drumming on it is fucking fantastic too. |

this is the best because of the guitars and drums just have a lot of power, it's a rocker. thouch, the best rocker would have to be the spilled milk extended version from one of the intersection shows. if i remember correctly. anyways chrysanthemum is one of my favorites along with to love you.

'Life Begins Again' (the track) on Jimmy's record sounds a lot like it, at least the way it begins.

I think people like(d) it so much because it was the first song ever played to begin an exciting and promising era before the rainbows and bastardization of the dream.
And a lot of the other reasons mentioned here were factors as well. |

Glorious
Oh yeah, Glorious! When I heard that track, I was sure it was going to be the best song on the Zwan album. Oh well...
A proper studio version of that would be great. |

Chrysantuemum sucks.
The Shining Path and Cast a Stone are much better Edit: and The Empty Sea is pretty good too. Last edited by Reyngel : 07-04-2005 at 05:17 PM. |

Obviously, there are better songs than Chrysanthemum, but I think this was a song that could have and should have been on the record.

No, it shouldn't have. It sounds like a fucking Blink 182 song.

i too was at the glass house.. after the year of anticipation of what it would sound like chrysanthemum was the first song outta zwan that the world really got exposed too (except the warm up shows which were much smaller, and no recordings leaked at the time)
the crowd went ballistic after it was over, and it was this insane rush of energy... ill always relate the song to that moment in time.. i love it to this day. Last edited by melodic skys : 07-05-2005 at 01:55 AM. |

Dammit, I just this last week discovered the Chysanthemums from 11/18, 11/20, and 11/21 shows. At least I can hear the song now.

I've just always found it surprising that so many people have heard the near unlistenable version of Chrysanthemum (I only listened to it a couple times, yet I remember it well) and not the better versions of that show or the other shows. |
