Their drummer is stuck in the same cadence for virtually every one of their songs and as a result their music sucks real bad. No depth, no breadth, no expansion...no nothing. Just the same ol soft rock song after song where even a nice voice can be rendered dull. |

Well obviously you haven't heard the song Lost! which uses tribal drums / poly-rhythms and Strawberry Swing which apparently incorporates Afropop music.

coldplay has some pretty good songs. Their first two albums are solid enough, after that it was downhill in a bad way. I liked a few songs from X&Y but the next one was total shit. I listened to part of a newer one on an airplane once, it was in the in-flight music selection. garbage

Viva La Vida is a great album. It finds them going in a more art-rock direction. But it also sounds like a continuation of A Rush of Blood To Head.

i hate coldplay and think they are nickelback level because just like nickelback they take elements from already popular bands and regurgitate it into this phony slurry that just has no emotional or artistic integrity whatsoever
i mean is nickelback's brand of generic buttrock more offensive to the ears than coldplay's marriage of U2 and Radiohead? yes, absolutely, but there's something even more smarmy about coldplay's bullshit. nickelback is a bunch of dickweed bros so at the very least they're making dickweed bro music. Coldplay is the kind of wankers that would listen to OK Computer because of Karma Police and never get any of the subtext. Fuck coldplay. |

especially after there was an online petition to block them from playing the NFL Kickoff show that year, for no other reason than they suck. That had to hurt, all the way to the bank.

they are good at ripping off, they suck at 'being creative - (oh, lets hire brian eno so people can pretend there is a deep and intellectual meaning in our songs)' |

When people say they like Robyn they're usually talking about the Body Talk album. I've seen Robyn and Charlie xcx at festivals and they were pretty fucking good live. But then again I'm not embarrassed to admit that I like some pop music. My taste in music is eclectic to say the least.

I'm confused as to how this thread turned into an argument with yourself over which pop singers/writers are better than Robyn.

All the stuff that fuzzy proposed was better than Robyn was nostalgic stuff from decades ago. He's so stuck in the past.
