I really think that both "Murmur" and "Reckoning" by REM are awesome, awesome albums that don't get mentioned very much. Especially their 2nd, "Reckoning"... easily one of my top 5 albums.

The Kinks- Village Green Preservation Society, and the Zombies- Odessey and Oracle are two of the most amazing pop albums of all time. I'd put Village Green above most Beatles albums, myself.
Tall Dwarfs- Hello Cruel World is a home-recording classic that hasn't been heard by nearly enough people. If you like weird, primitivist lo-fi pop, by all means check this one out. Gary Numan's Pleasure Principle defines 80's synth-pop, and the fact that it contains the song "Cars" means that it's never going to be recognized as a classic, just a kitschy relic. Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is definately up there. I'm sure most of you would agree that it's generally seen as an obscure underground classic and is given a fair amount of attention, but in my opinion, it's the greatest album of the last 20 years. Until every man, woman, and child in the world owns a copy of this record, it hasn't had enough recognition. ------------------ http://allstarpowerup.com/incoming/joeshill-gimp.jpg All Star Powerup Music. Stone Roses debut LP. I never hear anyone post about the Roses, they are the ultimate pop gods, at least to me.Ride "Nowhere" Charlatans "Up To Our Hips" are also good but not essential. R.E.M. Murmur is Definately ESSENTIAL. I have it on vinyl,so tasty.
