I'd say it's close but rhyming "bummer" with "hummer" ?

Hummer and Rocket are peak SP. that's a little personal probably as I prefer the brighter SD stuff to the Eb MCIS stuff [ruby porcelina muzzle tonight etc]

wish they did Hummer way more on the MCIS tour. i believe they did it twice in 95; i really didn't care to hear geek usa at 800mph as much as they played it

True they did rush a lot of songs live on the MCIS tour. Probably the coke.

Hummer and Glynis are good calls. Starla would have to be in there too

I prefer the original mix of Glynis over the new one.

It’s probably the “best” but Mayo is still my fave

I know songwriters often lose their youthful determination and enthusiasm when they get older, but it's crazy baffling how much better HUMMER is than anything on CYR.

Hummer really is the best. There might be others that have connected with me more emotionally, but I can throw on Hummer on at absolutely any time and love every second of it. I can't even say that about the other top tier tracks on SD; there are times I don't want to listen to Mayo or Geek USA.

Muzzle might be the only other SP song that is as listenable.

"Hummer" is about Corgan's hatred of the Jews. Looking back, we should have canceled it a lot time ago.

I remember listening to SD that first week in July 1993, before it was "SIAMESE DREAM" and Hummer wasn't "Hummer" yet and just listening and listening, and I still had Disarm and Soma and Mayo to get to... those first time listens were special.

Here was this little band that really not many people knew about, making this mind-bendingly good music.

The vocal effect was a stock preset in the Eventide rack unit. Same one used live. Can’t recall the name, but it was basically an ultrashort chorus, with the doubled vocal detuned a tiny amount.

The mutton biphase showed up on the guitar to Hello Kitty Kat and on Apathy’s Last Kiss. I don’t think much else. Maybe Thirty-Three. That whole “we ran everything through it” was obviously just Vig messing around.

seriously hummer>rocket is just pure bliss

imagine if we got even 1/4 of something that good on CYR, and the other 19.75 songs were trash, we'd be over the moon

Seriously. Whenever he’s managed to put out a half-decent song in the past 15-20 years (NONE of which have been as good as Hummer or Rocket) I’ve gotten my hopes up. But now he can’t even manage that. If he wanted to release and album of electronic dance schlock, fine. But why a DOUBLE album, and why involve the other band members? Just release it as a solo. That would make it easier to ignore and then we could all go on believing that SP would someday rise from the ashes to achieve mediocrity again.
