Default Spin Counts Down "Every" Pumpkins Song. What Are They Missing?

I had a count of over 400 songs. This is a nice list, but what's missing? Right off the bat I can see that "Ma Belle" is not accounted for ....

weird choice of picking out the songs..they used bootlegs and reissues, but not all the songs..why not stick to just all the official non-remastered albums?

I don't understand what fuckhead wrote this. I just skipped down and read the description of 1979, the #1 song. "There's not definitive riff... in fact there's hardly any guitar here."

what the fuck has this person actually heard smashing pumpkins

In one of the MCIS 20 write-ups I saw this week, the article praised the record, but referred to "Porcelina," "XYU," and "Ruby" as bloat. I was aghast.

so far the worst offense of this list is ranking all the tonight tonigth single songs very low. Fuck you. Medellia of the gray skies and Meladori magpie are some of the best shit in MCIS era imo.

they wrote that dorian was on oceania...

k still reading down....

my god this list is horrible......

guys, did you know being beige is better than behold the night mare and age of innocence and blank page and galapogos? ya. I'm not even gonna mention what run2me is ahead of....

Take me down is 58. the boy is 40. One and all is in top like 30. Drown is #4.... And cherub rock is top 40 song surely, top 20 even if you want, but no 3?

jesus......

I mean i realise lists are you know super subjective, but the problem is this list gets it mainly super wrong. Im pretty sure anyone on this forum could make their list and they could in no way probably be further from my own list as this is.

tried too hard to be nice to SP2. no sp2 song should have made the top 100.

I'm not so concerned about the ranking. 500 superfans would all have a different list, although they all would probably have "Ruby" much higher. I like the fact that the music is celebrated and they took the time to demonstrate the sheer breadth and scope of the BC/Sp catalog. They are about 300 songs short as I discovered from this thread.

Some of the descriptions show true insight and respect

[1979 is] the one song with Jimmy Chamberlin that could’ve been helmed by an average drummer with no real consequence.
Haha, exactly.

Yet they had it taking up a slot every show with JC this year, and didn't play it once in 2011 or 2014

Songs with quality lyrics.

It should be about quality, not quantity.

Never understood the hype of 1979. It was a good pop song but for me it was the only song I skipped when listening through the album. I just had another listen and still don't get why it nearly always makes the number one spot on these types of lists.

Seriously why do people click on clickbait and discuss it. We really are just animals blindly falling into bright shinny traps constantly.

and yet you clicked on a thread about clickbait not once, but twice, on two consecutive days, to tell people they are dumb for clicking on clickbait

the internet is all clickbait. at least some thought was put into this article, even if some of the opinions are asinine. i get more annoyed with rolling stone and their 1 paragraph reviews of albums where they use the exact same formula each time (always give 3.5 stars and yet say its *insert artist here* best since *insert widely regarded artist best work here*, then use lyric quote to wrap up pointless review of album you can tell reviewer barely cared to listen to).

Yup, I completely agree. This was clickbait because their analytics probably show that making a list like this causes minor waves in certain communities and that it was a Halloween post about the Pumpkins, but there was some thought put into it.

Nice breakdown of the RS review. So true.

the spin article was specifically NOT clickbait. if it was they would have made you click through to get to the top songs...

Very true. It's just an interesting topic. Clickbait, by definition, is luring users in with sensational headlines that don't deliver in their content.

"every" is a literal overstatement, but they did hit up over 300 tracks. That's a great job on their behalf - it could have been a LOT worse.
