Default Talk Talk - the last two albums

I always thought Talk Talk were a pretty shitty 80's pop band with little substance - I wrote them off for their singles such as "It's my life" (covered by No Doubt recently) and other such singles.

Recently however I was given their last two albums Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden by a friend who is a huge Mogwai fan, who told me they are the early fore-runners to post-rock...and I haven't stopped listening to them since.

The Mark Hollis solo album is also fantastic.

Is anyone else a fan of these albums?

as much as i appreciate you finding out about those albums, i must wonder how you can not have heard of them before

don't you people read reviews and stuff

and don't you people like postrock and shit

they're seriously referenced all the fucking time

I don't really read reviews, and I am amazed that I'm just hearing them for the first time.
While I'm at it, are there any other great post-rock albums out there I might not have heard?

Hex by Bark Psychosis is also another fantastic album I've only just recently heard.

It is good music for studying/writing essays to. So perhaps. Still good ambient post-rock.

Will check out the albums thread.

I think I might try and rediscover the earlier stuff now. I might have been too quick to judge perhaps.

i hate to justify my own bad posts, but i was referring to an actually wide audience there. up there i was talking about post-rock level. there i meant pink floyd level
