OK I don't remember if I posted this in that other thread so I'll post it here
Here's a really great interview with Albini about the set. http://vishkhanna.com/2013/08/16/ep-24-steve-albini/ He talks specifically about this letter, and says he regrets the letter now and that it was written in youthful arrogance. Despite that, he OK'd it's inclusion on the set as providing historical context to the album. That's pretty cool that he's willing to show himself with his pants down (if that's what you want to call it, depending on your point of view about the letter in the first place) for the good of this thing. Anyways, great interview about this box if you haven't heard it already. |

albini is good in the same way eno is good - they create rules for themselves and exist fantastically within those self-imposed boundaries. i can support that.
