It has more moments that make my jaw literally drop than any show ever but it is never cheap. Always earned. Just fantastic.

it's not subtle, that's true. it's in-your-face realism.
and no, why should I stop watching a series I find good? I'll see The Americans eventually, I just don't feel like catching up on 3 seasons atm, American Crime just started. Also whatsherface in The Americans is someone I can't stand, so it takes actual willpower to start this. |

So everyone loved Homeland season 1 and that was legitimately great but the Americans makes it look like two and a half men

Ok I'll stop for now.
I'd like to get at least one convert though. Holy shit. Some eps are obviously weaker than others but the way it all builds is so terrifying and satisfying. And you gotta suspend some disbelief but that's true of any good show. |

And I get that it's weird to call a show dated compared to one set in the 80s. But still.

Dude I love the wire. Placing one show above it doesn't mean I don't.
I had to write a gigantic paper for a drugs and the law class to graduate law school and I wrote about the wire for like a third of it. |

Top of the Lake is good TV. Elizabeth Moss is great.

Totally forgot about Top of The Lake - Jane Campion!
7 episodes, that should be doable. I can't keep up with all the stuff I want to watch. |

The first half of Wanderlust is really funny. It kind of falls apart and has a too serious tone after that. The guy who plays Paul Rudds brother was fucking hilarious. He was such an asshole. It's like he was doing a Will Ferrel impersonation.

a second season of this show is in the works, but no news on a release date. I read one rumor that said Moss turned down a staring roll on season 2 of True Detective so she could do season 2 of Top of the Lake.
