Marchin' On is so good, from the title you think it'd be some Drum + Fife part 2 nonsense but man it's some Machina-era rocking goodness that even Rick Rubin couldn't cock up

I'm still giving 4 of 10.

"Marchin' On" is my favorite track.

Wow, board opinion at the moment seem pretty hung on this album.

this is a 5/10 at best. MTAE is worse... has higher highs (drum and fife, one and all), but way lower lows

For the record I'm discounting the 10/10 rating by Green Eyes. Mental health is a serious issue here, and we need to approach it with sympathy and understanding.

After the tracklist came out, I had this one penciled-in as the worst for sure. I was certain no band living or dead could make a song called "Marchin' On" that was good.

Not enough MTAE hate in this community for me. Netphoria has let me down.

I'm discounting your 9/10 lemonscure. I suspect you might be Billy Corgan.

Thanks to everyone who voted on this so far.

I've got in touch with THE FBI and let Billy know who had illegal access to the album before it was officially launched.

Yes, I've been working on a secret sting operation here for years along with Chief Inspector Monte of the Mp3 crimes division.

I can 100% admit I'm only giving this a shake because it's SP. Not having heard much music since the beginning of the Teargarden debacle, this is me giving it a chance because 3/4 of the Pumpkins is all we're ever going to get.

That being said, most of the songs are fine if you keep in mind that we will never get a classic album from the brand Smashing Pumpkins again. 1988-2000 SP is dead and buried and all we can really hope for from 50 year olds is these types of albums.
They'll never have another blockbuster hit; the most they and we can hope for is an album that "isn't that bad".

Knights of Malta grew on me after the initial listen. I like that they are doing something different with the choir. It reminds me of Crying Tree.

Silvery Sometimes also grew on me after a few more listens. It's a fine tune, a decent single. Reminds me of Untitled.

Travels is also a decent song that maybe could be edited a bit. Don't think we need a 5+ minute song from Billy anymore unless it's something "epic" or something that goes somewhere or something that has nuance.

Solara straight up sounds like it would fit right in on Zeitgeist but, since I can dig about 1/3 of Z, that's not a shot against the song. It's just... there. I would have liked it a lot when Z came out.

Alienation is boring as fuck; I dunno why but it rubs me the wrong way and I will most likely never listen to this song on purpose ever again.

Marchin' On is on some Machina shit; it's not bad, just above average, I guess.

With Sympathy is fine; another one that sounds Machina/Zwan as hell to me.

Seek and You Shall Destroy - listened to most of this song, but I arrived at my destination today and didn't finish it. It was okay, a Machina outtake.

The biggest revelation to me with the album is we know that Corgan sings like shit nowadays just to piss us off

Not because he can’t

What's he actually singing about? It's hard to know or care, and that is this album's biggest problem.

My rating sheen has fallen to a 6.5/10 but Marchin On and Travels remain my favorite post-2000 SP songs by a mile

I wonder if the reception to Marchin On will make Corgan sing that way again

You can pretty much guarantee a successful album if he did so

Lord I wish
Unfortunately the more likely reaction from Corg as we know him would be "See? Now fuck off"

I think it’s one of the least Pumpkins sounding albums he’s released. Interesting that people say essentially “it sucks but at least it sounds like SP”. It doesn’t.

I wish there were more cohesion as Pumpkins records of the past, but 6.5-7 is a good range
