Exclamation More details on new Jane's Addiction album and lineup

Jane's Addiction is finishing up work on a new studio album, "Hypersonic," and plans to release it early next summer via Warner Bros. The disc is the band's first proper studio set since 1990's "Ritual de lo Habitual" and is being produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Lou Reed) at Henson Recording (formerly known as A&M Studios) in Los Angeles. The group has also scheduled two West Coast dates for late December, to be followed by a previously announced stint on the Big Day Out tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Jane's has also added a new bassist, with Chris Chaney (Alanis Morissette, Andrew W.K.) taking over for the recently departed Martyn LeNoble, who had also previously played with frontman Perry Farrell in Porno For Pyros.

Farrell, Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins have recorded together just once since the group's initial demise in 1991, when they reassembled with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea to cut a handful of new songs for the 1997 odds-and-ends set "Kettle Whistle." Original bassist Eric Avery has remained absent from Jane's Addiction's various reunion tours.

I've said it before: Avery is the genius. He's now composing movie scores, IMO.

I'll probably download it and decide if it's worth wasting a CD-R on.

I don't care enough about Jane's Addiction to read that article, let alone listen to the fucking album.

Hopefully it's better than Navarro and Farrell's solo outings. They sucked ass.

Didn't he take up "DJing" not too long ago? His attempt at being a "DJ" probably had as much success as D'arcy's "acting" career. I bet he did some great remixes of Shaq's album. Fuck celebrity crossover bullshit.
