Default are new pressing of old records inferior?

ive been blowing alot of money on lps lately. the guy who i buy from tells me that older pressing are better opposed to the new 180gram pressing as they are analog sourced. he claims by the 80's most records were digitally sourced and thusby inferior, and if a new pressing is analog sourced than the master they are sourced from are wore down by now and not as good. his word is questionable though because he's trying to move more of old records.
