suffer, obscured, sweet sweet, in the arms of sleep, jupiters lament, and once upon a time are all in 6/8

the bells is something like 6/8 + 2/8, with some straight 6/8 sections.

set the ray has 6/4 bars every second time, or 2/4 bars every third time, whichever you call it - same thing really.

I was really more talking about him skipping bars, an example being in Raindrops & Sunshowers.

only part I can think of is the pauses in between sections, like "shattered as belief" into "if you have to go"

that bar, which contains only a single sustained chord, suits 3/4 better than 6/8 because then the pulse matches the surrounding bars (and most of the rest of the song) in 4/4

that's on the studio recording. in live performances, they stretch out the pause longer

in the studio, it's plausible that they could have simply edited it together that way, the different sections could even be different takes recorded separately

in the end it's kind of meaningless to specify the timing of a pause that is arbitrarily long for dramatic effect

so anyway str4wb is objectively wrong

There's also Unsquare Dance in 7/4, at the end of which you can just make out Jimmy's disbelief that they got through it correctly

Don't know why some prankster uploaded it with this Brubeck character's name all over it; dodging a takedown notice probably

this is exactly the kind of deep cut your "filthy casual" does not know about
