yea they are, and I love(d) both.

But I realize not everyone gets much out of gorgeous shots and lighting in a tv show, and I would watch Odenkirk reading the phone book, too. BB wasn't slow, BCS is a slow show, but there is nothing wrong with that, not many of those around.

Still haven't seen a minute of the current season, very much looking forward to binging it all this summer.

yeah i like the slowness of BCS. it's not just slow for no reason. they really let scenes have their full potential. the americans is like this too, and i also love that show.

ah the americans is that spy thing iirc. I watched the pilot back then and never got around to give it another chance, can't even remember why I didn't like it right away, maybe the main actress.

it might actually be a mistake to attempt to binge watch this, because that is really it, the scenes have so much breathing space to get to their full potential and then I go and shit all over it by watching 6 episodes in a row.

It's strange that many give Breaking Bad's overall superiority as a reason to not watch Better Call Saul when they're happy to sit through other unrelated shows that are not as good as Breaking Bad.

That's like refusing to eat a calzone because pizza is better, though it's macaroni and cheese on the menu for tonight.

the americans is truly a great show, better than BB in my opinion. it's very complex also, so it may be hard to get into. i watched the first three seasons myself, and then i watched them with my mom, and there was a lot i had to explain to her because it was hard for her to understand what was happening. sometimes you can be seeing the main characters in disguises and the disguises are so good you aren't even sure if it's supposed to be them or not. a lot of the story lines are several seasons long. they take a lot of viewer commitment but when they pay off it's amazing. season 4 had a lot of payoff. people shat all over the last season (5) because it didn't have that much payoff. i still thought it was great, although one story line in particular really pissed me off because of how it ended up being a nothing story. the characters are all very complex, especially phillip though. he makes the show.

it's the kinda show where you really are invested and lose track of the fact that they are actors. i think of them as elizabeth and philip and find myself wondering, what would one of them do in this or that situation.
