The obvious meaning is that their writing songs for their respective projects (for example: Ginger on her solo material).

Interesting that he says the energy in SF is different than Asheville. Not surprised, given how different the rooms are.
Jeff has been playing some fantastic guitar though... fun to watch |

"During these practices, we might work on something that didn't go well the night before, work on a new song Billy wrote in the morning, or just jam on new ideas."
i think this clearly shows that billy is the only person providing any real ideas for new material. jeff and ginger might make a suggestion now and then about their respective parts, like: JS-"hey billy maybe i can play an octave riff in that bar, like this?" BC-"yeah, ok jeff." that'd be about it i think. |

Yeah I don't know, I mean, this is Billy's and Jimmy's band, but through some banter and visable laughter, it really looks like Jeff and Billy got something going. They seem like good friends. And the way Billy tests him via guitar licks in Silverfuck (when they take turns) I see that as Billy placing him on a high pedestial. This being the case, I think we can see some material written with/by Jeff. Just my take though. I do love how this band is slowly coming more together with each show.

We can probably look at it this way: maybe Billy is trying to make Jeff more accessible and push him into the spotlight to the audience/fans to show us what he is capable of. I believe Jeff will most likely stick around after the tour since there's no mention of him currently playing in another band, unlike Ginger who has her Ginger Sling project, and Billy wants our approval of Jeff.
