Question Pick one: MCIS album or all MCIS B-sides?

If you could only listen to one or the other for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The proper MCIS album (you can inklude the 3 album vinyl version if you want) or the entire B-sides collection from the era?

As much as I love the B-sides, I couldn't give up Ruby, Porcelina, Stumbleine, Jellybelly, or Farewell & Goodnight... ever.

Wow, that's a really good question. I mean, I guess the album is winning by a landslide, but it's not as obvious of a choice as I might have assumed. Funny it took like a dozen years to be posed this question. Given the option, I would trade Dawn to Dusk for Zero and 1979.

Even though I prefer the album, Dreaming is one of the best tracks.

I always thought that cover wasn't very good. The original on the other hand is awesome.

In other words for me: 1979 or Set the Ray to Jerry...I think i choose 1979...that echo that sounds like "take it" never gets old.

I am a huge TAFH-lover, but let's be honest. As great a set it is, there are only about a dozen TRUE classics out of the 28. I love almost every track, but it is outweighed and outclassed by Mellon Collie.

Right. But if you take the best 12 or 14 tracks and compare to the best 12 or 14 off MCIS, it's a lot closer than you'd think.

Overall, 56 amazing recordings from a single session/era, what other band could even compare?

touche, but I'm not one to excise basically anything from Mellon Collie.

Great. Now I have to think about this all day, and there's a pretty good chance my head will explode.

MCIS is better than its B-Sides, but TAFH is better than MCIS.

Same here, for me most of 'em are on the 1979 and Zero EPs. Except for the song TAFH and maybe another one or two songs, there's nothin' on the other three EPs that I'm really crazy about.

You mean the song TAFH? Or the TAFH single including all the songs on it? Either way, I disagree.

But I do wish TAFH would have been on MCIS. I don't care that it might have not "fit in" but imagine Disc 1 ending with TAFH instead of Take Me Down (the only song I really don't like at all on MCIS)? That would be insane.

The drums are so raw and dry on TAFH, plus the one take solo is just classic. I get chills just thinking about it.

TAFH after Porcelina would have been a bit much I think, my ears would hurt. I really like Take Me Down, I don't know why everyone hates it. Its a great little wrap up to the whole bombast of the first disc.

Take Me down does work with the disc, it just isn't great.
I think TAFH at the end of TtS would be awesome, but it wasn't even recorded until March '96.

I mean TAFH as a whole, with all five A-sides as opposed to just the B-sides.
