Default Bleeding The Orchid is top-tier SP.

Just came on shuffle. I never listen to ZG cos it all sounds like ass. But I always liked BtO, and this confirmed to me it's awesome out of the context of ZG.

If it had dropped 95-98 it would be adored.

Rest of the album is shite. Billy is still shite, sorry.

Production killed the song with the "AAAAHHHH AAAHHHHS" Billy choir. Also, tons of rad guitar work that is absolutely buried in the mix of proto-metal guitars or whatever the fuck the production on Zeitgeist was going for.

Yeah it's a pretty catchy song

Verses are classic pumpkins [or would be with Iha noodling a little riff on top]

What a horseshit intro on the album though. I honestly just skipped it every time upon hearing that ahhhahhh crap. No one wants to hear you masturbating Corgan. Write guitar parts

You're actually questioning a Billy title?

FYI, you should know by now that most of his titles (as well as his lyrics) are nonsensical.

Billy has said in the past that "It means whatever the fans want it to mean" or some crap like that. That basically translates into an easy way of saying it's just bullshit. He could've called the song "Dilly Daddy" and the title would have been just as relevant.

Not sure if I'd call this "top-tier SP," but I think it's a good song.

If there's honesty in this song title/lyric, it's that there's something amiss in our cosmos. Yet still, we must love.

I think it'd be top tier without the bad production.

Bleeding the Orchid is about menstruation

The song just makes me think it's something Alice in Chains may have produced back in the day.

The title means trying to squeeze the last few drops out of something (SP, an old love, etc.) that was once beautiful.

It's a good song with an great outro. As everyone has pointed out, though, the horrible vocal intro and ridiculously muddy production drags it down.

love how when M2 or Zeitgeist gets brought up, the echo chamber of "waaah bad production" comes out in full force when I'm pretty sure 90% of the people have no idea what that means and its just something they read before.

i love how anytime anyone says anything good about zeitgeist they have to immediately follow it up with "album still sucks billy sucks." it's like the sp fan version of "no homo" or some shit

I must agree about Bleeding The Orchid. Great track.

I actually listened to Zeitgeist today and it's a shame because it's not a bad album just marred by terrible mixing choices. But I must say, listening to it again after all of these years, it's not that bad. I wish Billy would go back and do a full on remix of the album and bring up the buried layers and calm down some of the silly panning and pull back the vocals a bit.

I tried listening to Oceania with no luck. Only Quasar and The Chimera stand out for me. Sure, it has better production in certain aspects compared to Zeitgeist, but Zeitgeist has much stronger tracks. Plus the drums sound a bit lifeless on Oceania.

I must say that seeing them on the tour with Marilyn Manson made me fall in love with the track United States. They performed such a blistering version live.
