Default This is Billy Corgan's best interview of all time

I made a joke about this in the other thread, but really, this is Billy's greatest interview he ever did:

My favorite line from the interview:

Billy: I'm still seeing photos I took when I was 24 where I looked like shit. There was no one to stand there and say, "Don't do that, don't wear that, you look like a fuckin poof."

hahah without watching the interview...i remember the emphasis he placed on the word poof.

it reminds me of the commentary he did on the cherub rock video when he said "poop".

Billy - "when i saw that the director used the same concept with a different band a couple years later....I almost POOPED my pants"

It's also interesting to hear Billy's detailing of how Courtney moved from him to Kurt. Previously, you'd hear Billy hint at things, but I don't think he ever flat out told the story before.

Tony: Would you like to run a record company?

Billy: No. No. I would like to develop artists. I think that's an honorable business. But running a record company ultimately leads to cocaine off of hookers' asses, and I'm really not interested. But I can't speak for you...

fuck when he was 24 he looked fine, someone needs to tell him now when he looks like a poof.

good interview though. i especially thought he made a good point with the arc of the artist at 4 years v. manager/lawyer at 25 years

Is Kathy Lee high or drunk? That's pretty much the most annoying TV persona I've ever seen. Fucking Ew.

Is Billy just a character of sorts in the Smashing Pumpkins? I say this, because this interview is presumably from some time around the "confessions" era, or a little later--but, still, in that little window of time when he was dissociated from Smashing Pumpkins. It seems to me that if the Billy of this interview were hypothetically presented with content from his future (i.e. the current present in SP) he'd be liable to ridicule it as "fucking bullshit" or something to that effect. It seems to me that some of the things he buys into as being a part of SP are rather opposed towards his own set of attitudes and artistic sensibilities. Does that make any sense? (Otherwise, how does Billy at 24 look any more like a poof than dawning a silver metal dress at age 41? That in and of itself is a bit of a superficial issue...but you get where I am going.)

I thought that as well. And while the things he says in that interview regarding the music industry and record labels is some of the most profound, articulate observations he's ever vocalised, it all seems to conflict, in part, with how he went about reviving the Pumpkins.

I'd like to see someone ask him about it now, and reference what he said in the interview. Could be an interesting response...

No, he means "poof."

"Fag" was reserved for the 2008 aluminum siding dress.

I downloaded it from the Traders Den before they took it down. They didn't like Sebastian's lineage.

Ask Sebastian about it... I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find it on the Zomb or Pirate Bay, but it's his rip, so ask him.

Yeah, they have a policy about only allowing the original lossless formats for upload and sharing, or something like that.

That's a good interview. I like the one below. The interviewer isn't a native English speaker, so he avoids speaking vaguely with those "in and of itself" remarks.
