while i'm a big fan of penmanship and 'real' writing, i must admit i take much better notes with my laptop. my typing is fast enough (#humblebrag) so that i pretty much get 90% of what the teacher says, while everyone else's arms are coming up with smoke from writing so furiously and not getting a lot of stuff down.

My handwriting is not fantastic, but is legible enough. I used to write all cursive in school, but once I got to high school, it devolved into separate letters because it seemed easier to me.

I work as an AD (assistant director) in small movies a lot, and a big part of the job is filling up shooting info on the fly (scene-shot-take was it good or not? what was special about it), which then editors have to decipher to put the thing together. I was never openly critized on my handwriting.

I think it's more the retention aspect that makes handwritten note taking better...

That is why we were all shocked to see that you are training to become a surgeon, Elephenor.

I hate pencils, regular and colored. And crayons. Gross but hilarious to hear people say. I like pens, gel pens, and obnoxious markers. But my favorite is the keyboard

I love coloring pencils. Too bad i'm terrible at coloring.
A couple years ago I bought a coloring book for adults (that was a thing here for a while), thinking i'd learn some techniques and improve my coloring game.

Didn't pan out, my coloring didn't improve at all from when I was 8 and reading about it online was just confusing so I gave up.

It handles great, there's the perfect amount of response against the paper, and it's easy to write quickly as the tip glides over the surface with little resistance. My handwriting usually looks better with a felt tip pen as well.

gotta say the worst is erasable pens though. they feel all obtuse and clumsy to begin with and then you go to write on the next line and there's fucking ink all over your hand and smeared on your paper.
I don't like those. The felt tips to easy to smoosh.

The best writing utensil is the Bic Atlantis

Also can't go wrong with a Sharpie... Love the smell.
