many thanks to all who contributed. i appreciate the efforts!

as topleybird said, it's tough to find songs that can truly, fully hit the mark. i know it would have been helpful to have included some examples, but i just didn't have any to give (thus the thread). aside from what i might have overheard at the grocery store or, like, while getting my hair cut, i'm totally unfamiliar with the genre.

my favorites here were:

bebe rexha, no broken hearts
carly rae jepsen, when i needed you
tegan and sara, hearthrob
robyn, dancing on my own
and i really liked the billie eilish song, though it didn't really fit what i had in mind

i definitely preferred the dance pop style over the more rock-oriented direction. i basically just want a song that's entirely comprised of unexpected and delightful hooks all within a wash of glossy orgasmic sheen. i want it to turn me into a human puddle.

i suspect what i'm looking for exists in some k-pop top ten youtube playlist, so maybe i'll start poking around there in addition to following up on some of the artists listed so far.

There was a thread for Asian pop on Hipinion called, I think "gee gee gee gee baby baby baby" and it introduced me to this one, which remains about the only qualifying song I know
