Hey guys remember when the Strokes came out and rock media declared Room On Fire the first masterpiece of the decade and then every talentless moron and his drinking buddies pulled on some dinner jackets and went for a slice of the pie and you couldn't turn on a radio or walk into a bar for like 8 years without hearing some stupid jangling four-chord haphazardly-yelped song about smoking cigarettes with a girl behind the co-op being belted out by a bunch of trust fund douchebags playing on the brand new guitars their parents bought them and it got so bad that even Modest Mouse, who had been entrusted with the weird rock torch handed down to them by the pixies and fugazi started to suck, and it seemed like all hope for guitar music was gone forever and we were doomed to repeat the worst parts of the 60s and 80s forever?

fun times.

for us in the states it started with the MTV stamp of approval on is this it

what i love is that people still think this band is "relevant" even though nobody's liked anything they've made since room on fire, including fans

They still put out a great pop song every now and then. Wildly uneven, though. There's nothing on the new album that's better than the Angles singles, but it's still a pleasant surprise.

The new album isn't terrible. It's just dull most of the time. I actually like Tap Out and a couple of other tracks.
