You got a cd with a monitor? Does the monitor have a thing built in so that it only plays the visuals or can you actually do something else with it?

You can turn it off, too.

It only plays visuals, and only turns on when you open the package. Look, I want to support physical music media in any way shape or form. I’m terrified of the idea of music only being digital.

Dude everyone buys vinyl now. They should have invested in that. I don’t even know where I would play a cd if I got one.

I have a huge vinyl collection. I don’t expect to see this get another release.

I have a very nice Blu-Ray player that has a very high-end DAC for CDs. If you care about video and audio quality in movies, a Blu-Ray player is still needed.

I like the digital version better than the CD version. The interludes break things up a bit so it doesn't feel like one long song with different sections. It sounds like Lateralus part II to me, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I do too. I wish the interludes were on CD.

Lateralus drags. I've never been a huge fan of it. I feel like this is conceptually and spiritually a stronger album than Lateralus. Now, Aenima, no, of course not, but that album is a classic of the genre.

10K Days is damn good. A little sloppy overall, but damn if Rosetta Stoned isn't fuckin perfect

lateralus is an artistic progress from aenima and that's what makes a lot of difference. they developed in terms of songwriting and playing between those albums, something that didn't quite happen on 10k days and this one.
10k days is, aside from 2-3 songs, uninventive and repetitive as hell. if it weren't for maynard's great lyrics, wings for marie would suck major ass.. 18 minutes of practically one riff

I just don’t understand what people thought a Tool album in 2019 would be other than a very proggy stoner album with a few heavy riffs throughout

I love stoner rock so this album is perfect for me

it just feels like a troll album, like someone put together songs that sound a lot like tool and that's it

I love all Tool albums, don't get me wrong, but I never thought they'd get into the rut of making albums that sound like the previous one. I always enjoyed the fact that they didn't shy away from changing and letting their sound evolve, I believe they themselves have asserted that kind of approach to their writing.
When they released 10K days I feared that they were getting into that teritorry of repetition and recycling, but it wasn't a bad album at all. I liked it, I just grew tired of it more over the years.

I've always kind of cringed at the thought of them releasing something that's just a total safe bet, makes me think of bands like Foo Fighters or Pearl Jam who've been doing that for decades.

But if you're fine with that, well that's great for you. I'm just saying how I feel about this album and whole direction they're going. It's definitely better for them to not experiment at this stage of their career, I'm just a bit sad about it.

Weren't all the 10K LPs bootlegs?

Anyway, after heavy play, I've moved back to giving APC's Eat The Elephant another shot. A bit better than I remember it being.

I would say this is the most experimental album Tool has released, so.
