It's a bit odd, isn't it, to think that you may have encountered each other under different names, gotten to recognize one another even, and now you're on this very similar board and have to sort of start over again, unknowing

A little Count of Monte Cristo thing sort of

Yeah. I don't think I left enough of an impression for anyone to remember who I was. I barely even remember who I was.

I do recall a lil Elph practicing his "I'm too cool" routine, though.

I posted there around 2000, 2001, almost exclusively about the Machina Mystery, occult symbolism, etc. There was a whole subforum for us wretches. I can't say I ever got to know anyone beyond recognizing a screen name or two, and I doubt I've ever encountered one of those people in any other setting. I doubt this very much, because I presume they've all long since suffocated themselves with a charcoal grill in their room, hung themselves, things of this nature.

I also posted about the "Mystery" on that board, I'm ashamed to say. I remember feeling very clever when I highlighted radio-related electronic schematics in the background of some nonsense we were being distracted by as the artistry waned.

We were just vulnerable kids, really. Just looking for meaning in this cold world. I could've been a teen who wandered into that arcade/skate park from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie that turned out to be a Foot Clan recruitment center. Hell, I would've preferred it.

We should get a class action lawsuit going.

My first ever crush was based entirely upon its object's ability to sing their way through the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme in kindergarten.

From the original board, I just remember names like tigershorty and shamrox with no recollection whatsoever of the associated personalities. From the later board of the same name, I remember a whole lot of things and none of them are The Flamester's handle.

No idea why - as I really liked Diamond Eyes once I put the work in - but I really haven't ever given Koi No Yokan or Gore the time needed.

Decided to do Gore today in effort while out on a bike ride. Got through the first half, major standout was Hearts/Wires.

Gonna stick to it and keep on plugging at it.

Gore's production is iffy, but Doomed User rips. Phantom Bride too.

Koi No Yokan is good but a little too samey. It also feels like like every other track is a throwaway, which I understand is a hot take in Deftones fandom.

yeah I completely agree. gore has ups and downs, but the production isn't great overall. I believe Joey Goldberg brought up the drum sound of that album and when I payed attention to that it made a lot of sense.

also, sorry, never got into koy no yokan. neither koy nor yokan.

i understand we all need our hard dose of Nu-Metal here on Netphoria, but are you really going to deny the heavenly perfection of a track like this?

I just think a lot of KNY is kind of samey. Entombed is kinda like the perfect encapsulation of the album.

agree with both sentiments. I also think I just wore that album out too quickly upon release.

I also wore Took's father out upon release.

There was only one pressing right? Mine is open obv. I found a first pressing of adrenaline and didn’t realize it until I opened it lol. It was not expensive.

I think the only 180g vinyl release I don’t own is that live release they did...

I have the Deftones Vinyl Collection (it rules...super glad I bought it upon release, not-so-humble brag), and then bought Gore, but that live record was a regular pressing at first, and then they did a 180g one for Record Store Day or something like that. Thanks a lot assbags.

The sooner Record Store Day dies, I think the better off most us will be.
