They're pretty enjoyable for what they are.

Insomniac is their best album.

as much as I haven't given a shit about GD since about 1998, I learned to play bass partly to this record, dookie and the first two so they will ALWAYS KINDA HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART. It's like oh I know I should hate this but I kinda can't. still you know i'd probably hide them if someone came over and they were around.

ill say this, in restrospect, once Sum 41 and Blink 182 came out, you realized that GD might not have been THAT bad after all... but they allowed this to happen though so fuck em.

Meh... Not sure why you'd be embarrassed. Dookie and Insomniac were pretty much landmark albums of the time and both hold up pretty well today. Nimrod has some good tunes on it too. Hitchin a Ride was a pretty bad ass single.

Blink 182's pretty good for what they are too. They definitely have some catchy, fun songs.

I had already obtained my degree in pop-punk when I was 15, but the wealth of knowledge that you have is definitely a source that I haven't tapped into.

Dookie should get remixed/remastered Raw Power style. It sounds cool when it's in a shitty overdriven stereo.

I should get the cassette.

Yeah I kind of went through a pop-punk phase when I was 15-16 too. I revisited a bunch of those C.D.s years ago and most of them haven't aged well. But it lead me into other cool bands like NOFX, SNFU, Lagwagon, Vandals etc

I love Basket Case. That was the song that did it for me man. I wasn't even really into music as a kid but when that song first came on it was like a religious experience. My mother took me out to the next day to buy the dookie Cassete tape and I became instantly obsessed. Of course that opened the floodgates and lead to me getting into all sorts of other albums: Siamese dream, Smash, Superunkown etc.

I recently bought a few vintage 94 Green Day tour shirts off a collector who needed some money. 20 bucks a pop. One of the shirts was the basket case shirt. I wear that shit with pride http://www.alt-tshirts.com/files/cla...1345501392.png

my main problem with nimrod is that the hit singles were the ones about falling off the wagon (i hadn't even been ON a wagon at that point in my life or come close to one) and then the acoustic ballad used in every tv show/high school prom/graduation ever

i'd never been hooked on/seen/or done meth either but at least insomniac felt more relatable

Not even "Dammit"??? That song was great. Most of the rest of Blink was awful... I seriously rocked out to Transplants though... but how could Travis Barker and Tim Armstrong be bad?? (if you like the tech-punk kinda music)

Yeah. With pop punk I draw the line at anything that came out after Green Day and I even draw the line at Green Day post lame ass emo resurrection (American idiot and everything after. This record was only big because they suddenly wore eyeliner. I dare you to prove otherwise)

If GD were posers, the pop punk that came after were posers modeling themselves on posers.
