Default Itunes Volume Leveling Help

I was messing around with my library one day, cant rmember what i was doing, but at the top i noticed that it was going through all of my songs and "volume leveling" like they had just been added or something. Afterwards, I noticed that basically all the dynamics from songs has been removed. Songs start loud on the slow parts, and when the song kicks in, it cuts the volume to keep it the same. It sounds like crap, and i dont have sound check on. Any ideas?

I think its under options. I know you can adjust it for individual songs, under "get info".

ive looked thru all options - under playback in options u can turn on sound check - which levels the volume, but im talking about killing dynamics in the song. I also know about the setting that changes volume for individual tracks, which isnt whats wrong either. Im stumped, maybbe i'll make a recording and see what u guys think. itunes better not have changed the actual files
