Some facts about the "Superchrist":

This song may have been the last one with Kerry Brown involved.
All Billy, except drums and violin.

Was it one of superchrist Monte's favorite SP-songs?

Here’s how I see it, as a chart from the most song-like to the most jammish.

SONGS—
Space Jam (actual song structure & lyrics, played within jams)
Superchrist (odd but complex structure, largely instrumental)
Pale Scales (simple, instrumental, no lyrics)
JAMS—
Why am I so tired (complex but unstructured)
Jackboot (simple and unstructured)

That AOL version is pretty tight. I think the original video was a real turn off for me. It was like - oh there are only two guys left in the band.

Kerry did some mixes on the Gish and SD reissues if that counts?

Not as much as I thought Mark Tulin was going to be around for a while.

That may have been his last mixing efforts at all for the brand.

...Beside playing bongos on "Astral Pains".

Oh come on, am I the only 100% pro Superchrist person on this board?

It's a top 10 SP2 song for me. Some competition, I know...

So mister C.O.R.G. B.L.U.F. Do we need to settle this with a P.O.L.L. ?

I love Superchrist. It's the only SP2 track that gave me classic SP feels. #1 post original line up track. That AOL version is even better.

how come every thread like this about random SP2 songs always ends up in wild hyperbole over the song in question?

Finally saw a clip of Iha playing Superchrist. His little octave pedal tricks make the song so much cooler

I feel like Superchrist could have been cool if it was either much shorter or if Billy had done more with it. It’s just mostly the same riff over and over again. If you have some good vocals and/or lead guitar parts then that can work but it just seemed like he convinced himself that he wrote the most badass riff of all time (he didn’t) and needed to beat everyone over the head with it.
