EXACTLY. The time for action would have been before the election to unite and bring out people to the voting stations. Doing it now is just a pointless display of sour-grapes. If they got together and all protested one cohesive policy then I think it may have had the possibility to send a message but the ignorance of a lot of these protestors just discredits that possibility

It kind of reminds me of when all those bongo-touting hipsters were involved in the occupy Wall-Street shenanigans, but even that was at least a little more poignant.

yesterday I waited 4 hours for a burger at a bar. I've never complained at a restaurant before but I left them a pretty scathing yelp review. the food was really good when it finally came though. but not wait 4 hours good.

story is like not even worth repeating but

I walked a long way with my friends to find a place that wasn't absolutely mobbed from the march. went to a popular music venue and bar in the U street corridor. I've seen shows there before but never gone upstairs to eat.

We got there at 4:30. They told us the kitchen opened at 5. At 5:03 we tried to place orders but were told they had already closed the kitchen again because of the number of orders they had received (there were like 4 other groups of people upstairs with us...) but it would reopen in half hour. At 5:30 they told us the kitchen was still closed but it would be open soon and please be patient, they will let us know. We considered leaving but my friend checked some other places on the street and the lines to sit down were out the door at some of them, so we opted to wait.

At 6:15 we were like fuck this and got up to leave, and realized they were taking other people's orders who had gotten there way after us! Never told us the kitchen was open or anything. We went up to the bar again and they told us the kitchen was about to close so please hurry. I was like omg r u serious rn? The six of us put our orders in, just a bunch of burgers. We watched literally every other person get served before us including people who must have ordered downstairs because they just came up and sat down and were served in a timely manner after the "kitchen closed." At 7 PM, 3 of our 6 meals arrived. At 7:45, we were starting to lose our shit so we asked to see a manager. They had totally lost the other half of the order which is inexplicable because we were all on the same check. The manager retook the 3 remaining orders. At 8:15 the other burgers showed up and they weren't what we had asked for but we were so hungry and so late at that point we just inhaled them.

One party from my group was upset enough to go demand to speak to the owner who argued with her but eventually agreed to refund us the 3 incorrect orders. Through all of this no one ever apologized to us, never offered us a free appetizer next time, never offered us some free beers (a can of PBR was $5 at this place). Just totally ridiculous. I've never had an experience in a restaurant like that, and this is a big, popular place that wasn't even crowded when we first got there.

then my friends had to drive back to NYC, having been delayed 3 hours by some burgers

Yeah of course. I just don't get how it's ironic or clever in any way. Especially when you consider it's a march for women. Ivanka herself has even been a womens rights activist .

yeah it's not a great sign, but i don't get the hate for the 'protest' really. people are angry about donald trump being the president. one of the most obvious things that should have completely disqualified him from being a candidate was all of the sexual abuse allegations. that's not just a women's issue but its one that most women have dealt with in one way or another (been sexually abused, been threatened, unwanted aggressive advances). and there were plenty of men at the protests.

people are upset and we should be upset. look at that fucking 'press conference' yesterday and 'alternative facts' sounds more orwellian than orwell ffs. it doesn't bode well

People should have been just as angry about Bill Clinton becoming president though, based on sexual assault allegations...

And should have been just as angry about Hillary Clinton becoming president, for her complicity in his and others' sex crimes.

I think Trump is as weird and concerning as the next person, but I do also feel like his ability to be made into soundbites and memes was so great that other candidates came out looking clean when in fact they were just as dirty. Hillary in particular.
