season one is great TV. if you don't absolutely love it i wouldn't try any more of them i wasnt a huge fan of season 2 or 3 but compared to this season they're on another level. this stuff really fucking sucks. it's like someone edited good episodes of dexter to take out all the plot and just stuck awkward scenes together...? very little really happens, just talking. the first episode of this season got my hopes up... oh man |

Have they explained where Harrison is and I missed it? I know the guy is a serial killer and all but, worst parenting ever.

i still lol at the russian mob story every time that "menacing" big boss appears
you get that he's supposed to have this nicholson on departed vibe, but the actor\writing really really doesn't deliver |

every season of the show has had a big bad of some sort, another killer that Dexter has had to contend with. Who is that this season? The mob? WTF? seven seasons in is not the time to abandon the formula that made the show successful. |

i mean they introduced him very haphazardly and in a casual way
but they made it clear he's a serial killer |

he doesnt seem very like sophisticated killer type, more like a couple episode thing but maybe not... weak |

that creepy maze thing was sort of interesting but we dont know shit about the character so it feels pretty hollow
it seemed more like a plot device to get deb to be ok with what dexter does than the intro of a big bad |

yeah that sounds about right
but see, the kind of 'big bad' train of thought confuses me because this show is so sub par at the moment, nothing is really 'big' anymore. plus i'm thinking, the writers must also know (at least i hope so) that the multitude of COOL SERIAL KILLAZ in miami is getting a little ridiculous so maybe they're toning it down a little |

they cant get enough development going to pull off a big bad without it being a lol fest. remember season 1 development? even season 3 which most people don't like much? that shit developed, yeah there was bad acting, but there were good scenes. there's like none now, maybe one an episode, it's sad. seriously someone stick a fork in it

well this season is turning out sort of interesting, actually.
there is some cheapness with the plot development but the last 2-3 episodes have been "good" imo not first season worthy by any means, but worth seeing anyone else still watching? |

right now i'm contemplating watching the newest episode or going to sleep
i actually would've dug this season but all this russian mafia bullshit... why is it there? why not just make it about dexters fucked up love interest and dealing with deb. it's one of the last seasons so why dick around with all these dumb subplots i'll watch it to the end but i hate how they shoehorn tv tropes in this like its CSI miami or something |

yeah i know it'll ultimately have its place but russian mafia bad guys is the most played out tv trope ever. may as well have a mustache twirling dude in a top hat tie deb up to a train track or something.

I'm actually digging this season more than any since Trinity if only because it seems like the writers finally seem to remember things that happened in the previous seasons that seemed like big loose ends and are treating them as such. I never was satisfied with the way Dexter managed to slip out of the whole Bay Harbor Butcher thing in season 2, so I'm glad they're revisiting it. I also like that they brought up how odd it was that all the barrel girl murderers from season 5 disappeared at the same time. There's also been specific callbacks to kills we've actually seen on the show in prior seasons. It just seems to me like this is the first season since season 2 where the writers have some understanding of the world they've created for the character and realize just how sloppy a killer they've actually made him.

they pretty much have to reference the past since its the second to last season. so i expected it from the beginning (though i do appreciate how they're not shoving it all into the last season)
i got done watching the last episode and plot-wise its paid off really well. but like the last two seasons i feel like it went too off course in places. maybe ten years from now they'll make an abridged edition of this show lol |

it's pretty good now, but the second and third episodes were almost soap opera level. i'm surprised and glad. that russian mafia shit is horrible but maybe it'll turn into something good... deb found out and accepted and then encouraged dexter in only a few episodes, which seems really soon, but it's pretty cool how it's ended up with her knowing. we've waiting for that since the first season
i dont see how dexter gets out of the bay harbor butcher thing. laguerta knows |

i think dexter should admit right away he's fucking hannah so deb will spend the rest of the series in a padded room eating crayons

it's almost hilarious how much i don't give a fuck about any character on this show anymore
this season is sternly walking the fine line of not royally fucking things up and keeping things very mediocre and unexciting. i wish it would just end so i could stop watching it. im so disappointed in myself http://forums.netphoria.org/wwwboard/icons/icon9.gif |

is this really the finale coming up? jesus christ
maybe dexter will kill laguerta, thus transforming himself completely into just another serial killer and then next season deb will tell on dexter and he'll go to jail THE END |

i think the season finale is next week. i've mentally tapped out of the show i think the only reason i keep watching is because rumor has it doakes will come back in the end. yes i know sounds ridiculous but the episode is called 'surprise motherfucker' so... obvs shit will go down. doakes being alive is too hilarious to be true but the show is too ridiculous to cancel out
