Actually there are some pretty famous instants of Morrison being belligerant and antagonistic towards his fans (though the story of Jomo and the Smoothies might have been his finest, most redeeming moment), or crashing other bands show and behaving like a loutish lunatic. Then there is Roger Waters, arguably the geatest songwriter of all-time, who actualy took it so far that he spat in a fans face at one concert in 1977. A lot the fascism themes of the Wall derive from his experience as an increasingly alienated, cynical frontman with a disintegrating conscience on the Animals tour. In Billy's case I think we just have to accept that he is weird, paradoxical, and occaisionally delusional. I liked the Hour interview because he seemed more relaxed, liked he'd be in private conversation among freinds, than the akward, self-contradicting guy ranting on stage on this most recent tour.
...>The Soft Parade is the only Doors album I don't have (having been informed by freinds that it indeed sucks) so I can't really comment on it. In my mind they were perfect on S/T and Strange Days, but a lot of the albums afteward contained bloated, filler songs with terrible lyrics. Robby Kreigers "Love Her Madly" comes to mind. But then I have to concede there are songs like "Roadhouse Blues", "Riders on the Storm", and "Not to Touch the Earth" which are classics. |

Too be fair it should be volunteered that the act of comparing frontman based upon material that one has recently been exposed too without regard for the idea that anachronistic relationships would blow anyones mind should be duly noted.

All I saw and know is on the videos on youtube, some review etc...so I've seen his response on stage, or after the show where ,as you said ,he said basicaly "non happy" fans to fuck off. It's not to defend him, but I just undestand his answer to that kind of fans.. come on , we all know he is giving all his life to do his music and shows...that he takes it very seriously....and some fans keep yelling " your show sucks, play Cherub rock, or Zero or disarm or whatever" all the way.... So you can imagine that of course it's very frustrating and disapointing for him to always have a group of people that keep complaining while the show and after loudly for what ?...a setlist. I just understand that at the end he says "fuck off" to that people that are actually not fan anymore, or fan of something he's not anymore...I won't make you learn that everyone change and need to move forward...so understand he doesn't want to be stuck on his previous song, witch apparently has still kept singging by the way, for his fans... I don't defend him, as I keep saying, he is a human, with his mood and wanting, so like everybody when someone disapoint him, he's not happy...and if you insult him, he can insult you back THAT'S ALL I'm not saying he's right or wrong, I'm just saying that I understand... If you're an artist and I keep following you and saying "what the hell are you doing that's sucks!!!, you should do that or that, come on fucker I paid for you DO THAT , BE LIKE THAT or give my money back!! " how will you react? seriously For me, it's the first time I see fans so openly "mad" at a band...they did fingers all the way in the shows apparently, insulting him too, so how do you want him to react? I think he explains well his point of view in this interview. so if you have your reason to be mad alright , he has his too...that's all I'm saying Last edited by *TL* : 01-16-2009 at 09:28 AM. |

You will never change him. Stop caring about how he annoys you. You just want to control him to an ideal you feel is right. Wether your ideal is correct, or not, is irrelevant to reality.
You are not his parent, and you are not his friend. If you dislike the "beautiful celebrity", be a grown-up with a sane mind, and move on. The phrase, get a life, is such a cliche, it falls on deaf ears...pity. You will never change him, or influence his behavior. |

He's one of those people who insists that he doesn't care about what people say or think about him etc but still finds a way to make it blatantly clear that he takes all this criticism so personally.

You just feel threatened because Billy called you out, got some laughs at your expense, and did it without seeming whiny and while showing justification. He's not like most of us because he'll call you on your crap even when turning the other cheek would be the easier way out. There's a great irony in the unexpected folly of your responses literally illustrating Billy's point. In your 15 minutes once every couple of weeks diatribes, how much immature passion have you expended in the name of your self-important, indignant need to tell Billy what he gets to be mad about concerning the musical pursuits he's literally given his life to? It scares me that you apparently teach children. You don't have to be like that you know. It's your choice every step of the way, starting now.

I can see it now... The "Find the Next Doors Singer, on FOX!" reality show where they can painstakingly comb through dozens of bland, untalented, genuinely nice people to rightfully give the Doors the frontman they've always needed to take them to the next level.
