i appreciate bonus tracks if they're non-album singles or b-sides or whatever. live tracks and demos are pretty useless most of the time

bla bla bla

Wow, don't gauge away at me here, but I got Rubberneck back when it came out but never really liked it. But I dl'd it again yesterday and it sat well with me, so I ventured into Hell Bellow/Stars ABove, and it's a pretty damned gigantic record! Twice as good as Rubberkneck...

Let me ask you guys this (and I got pooped on for even suggesting this on another board I post at):

Does Past Masters piss you off? I just fucking split it up and added each song as a bonus track to whatever album they were recorded for (so Hey Jude and Revolution are White Album bonus tracks, Paperback Writer and Rain are Revolver bonus tracks, Daytripper and We Can Work It Out would be Rubber Soul bonus tracks, and so forth). That way the albums are a bit longer (at least hit the 40 minute mark) and I don't have to deal with Past Masters, you know?
I've got to get that Mono box. I've been fortunate enough to hear some of the mono stuff on original LP's given to me by family members over the years. The difference is unbelievable. "I'm Only Sleeping" is a prime example with the added backward guitar parts not heard in the stereo mix. Love that shit.

The Past Masters are good but an awkward listen. To go from the extremes of "I Want To Hold Your Hand" to "The Inner Light" just doesn't feel right. Plus, those German versions of "She Loves You" and "...Hold Your Hand " don't do anything for me. The '65 to '68 timeframe is the height of pop rock writing, the best era for The Beatles, IMO.

Caught up with some new stuff:

both really good, but the second one (Blue Sky Black Death) totally caught me off guard. They've gone from instrumental hip-hop to full-blown trip-hop/dream pop. swish.

bought my ticket to see Peter Hook + Friends play this live in it's entirety, so I gave it a celebration spin.

It took me a year, a concert and a making-of documentary to really appreciate and love this record... same thing 10 years ago for The Soft Bulletin!

I agree big-time. I haven't heard anything of theirs that tops it.

Hush Arbors' "Yankee Reality" is hitting me pretty hard and really growing on me.
