Thumbs up

I love when people call Sean Penn's performance in Mystic River overacting. Doesn't he know that when people's daughters go missing and are found dead, they usually react calmly and rationally?

"I did a two year bid in prison...now, is that gonna help you find my daughter?"

The whole movie was made to get an Oscar, with the cheesy film tint, to the "deep and real" story, to the bad overracting by Penn and Robbins.

Sorry; don't agree. That above quote is just not overacting. Everything is at stake for him and the objective in the scene is not to stay calm, but to fucking figure what is going on. If you aren't a fan of the dialogue itself, that I can see because it wasn't that great.

Robbins, I can buy though. I wouldn't call it bad overacting, but I think he could have pulled back some and still have done a convincing job. Especially next to Marcia Gay Harden who was more subtle.
