Video Game Release Dates

Why oh why do video game companies tell you that it's a release date when REALLY it's just the SHIPPING date? The stores hardly ever have the game on the day that the company says is the release date. Just be honest with people damn it. And Nintendo is just as guilty of this as everyone else. That shit pisses me off.

most of these games are on such a tight release schedule. they usually end up testing up to the day it goes into production. the release date usually means limited release, because only 20,000 copies are initially made, and then a subsequent 75,000 are made if there are no big errors made in pressing and people are returning the game like mad.

what region is used for the australian gamecubes, american? european? other? have you ever considered importing? i'd never import japanese games, because it would require a renegade mod to my gcn and it's not worth it for an extra month with the game in another language (though it would be nice to play some games that never see US releases). but if i was waiting months and months like you seem to be, and there were copies of the games in my first language available to me, i'd look into it.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. My mom is gone buying Metroid & Unreal for my brother & I as we speak

Although she DID have to drive to a town that's like 40 minutes away,because the closest stores to us were sold out of the latter.

it SHIPS either today or tomorrow, i'm not sure, i know preorder ship today. all the stores 'round here have it scheduled for tomorrow, but we'll be lucky to get it by the end of the week (stupid canada).

What store is she getting it from? I'm told a few Gamestops and/or EBs got it today but only because they physically went and picked up the package themselves. Or I guess if you happen to live near Redmond the stores might have actually received the shipment today.

Most video game stores in the U.S. will be getting it tomorrow, the 19th. The bigger stores like Wal-Mart and Best Buy won't be getting it till the 20th.
