Arrow Californians: Your votes?

Here are mine:

No on Prop A. Look at the sponsors - it's all corporate and land developers. No thanks.

No on Prop C - It increases hotel tax from 11% to 13.5%. Do police and firemen get some? Yes, 0.2% increase. The rest goes to the tourism industry (hotels). It's a scam.

No on 56 - This is the big no. By having a 51% majority to pass legislation, you'll wind up with no bipartisanship and no compromise. If you happened to vote for one of the 49% not in the majority party, you have no voice in state congress since they become irrelevant. This is the worst idea ever.

Yes on 57 and 58 - balanced budget amendment? Hell yes. Refinance debt at lower insterest? Yessir.

Anyone else?

a friend of mine was telling me that 57 allows for a lower majority vote in tax increase and other related issues.
how do you feel about that?

That's prop 56, not 57.

56 sucks. It's a terrible idea, and basically eliminates any and all 3rd party candidates from the voting process.

We're talking state congress here. Third party candidates actually have some relevance on a local level.

56 is the one that scares me. 51% of state congress could raise state taxes? Ewww, no.

yeah that doesn't sound good. slightly over half can win the vote. Im assuming we already have more than half in either repub or dem, which would mean a victory for whoever wants it.

Raised taxes is what has to happen. Tax cuts will not rid us our enormous debt (California is the worst state for this right now of course). Taxes are not "evil" if you get something in return.

I love when the GOP bashes the Dems for raising taxes, but when they do the tax money goes toward civil programs, not other things like the GOP uses it for.

So, taxes are good if used properly.
