Actually I think the majority are successful these days thanks to advances in technology and mountaineering in general. In worst-case scenarios modern day rescue services can often be relied upon to get you out alive.

I've tried. Because I've always been told, if there is anything else you want to do instead of acting, go do that thing. So I took some time and tried to make this other life, but I can't.

I wouldn't put it like that - acting isn't a last resort or anything... not that I'm an authority. If acting is what you love and what you want to do in life, then that's what you should do. Sure there are lows, but you should find some solace in the fact that you've not capitulated and changed direction
