I'd vote for knot theory because topology was the hardest course I took, but AOL won't let me vote for anything. Do you miss math? Do you still read it? I'm a loser and I haven't picked up a math book since minutes before my algebraic number theory final. I miss math, but not enough to start studying it again right now. I wish I had the willpower to force myself to review my old math books.

i have to confess to never actually bothering to read maths textbooks. everything i learnt was from course-notes, examples, tutorials. given that i went to probably less than 20-30% of my lectures, it's amazing that i passed at all. i had a bunch of mates that i could copy notes from etc i suppose. i miss maths.

i thought Linear Partial Differential Equations was the hardest exam i took actually...i walked out of that exam thinking i'd got under 30% - ended up getting a respectable 62% cos of scaling mainly i'm sure.

i really loved Topology, so didn't ******* it in my list essentially. The Knot Theory course tho...well, it didn't start too well with my 2 out of 20 coursework, which amounted to 20% of the total mark. see paragraph one for possible reasoning. i pulled it round in the end.

but yeah, i miss maths.

i think this thread demonstrates quite nicely why i spent 3 years of my life studying maths and not english.

i'd like to go back and re-write that last post of mine

I never took a course that was strictly LDPE's, though we covered it a bit in other classes. I'm sure if I had taken more advanced math classes I would say something else was even harder than topology. Our text book was just very advanced and that put a kink in my style because unlike you I mainly learned from reading the books. I actually began to enjoy reading math books after my second year in college.
I only took a bit of knot theory, a girl I was friends with was talking a no-credit seminar with a graduate student and I sat in on their classes a bit while I was taking topology. I actually didn't mind it as much as topology. This makes me want to take another look at my topology book, it couldn't be as bad as I made it out to be. I was just rushed and lazy.
