-11/09/01 - hard to comment on as a whole. some of the shorts were very bad and some were astoundly good
-etre et avoir - again, still amazing

I saw it a year ago... I enjoyed it. Acting is good, the story is kind of silly but still touching. It's pretty funny too, definitely something fun to watch, with a good group of people.

Pieces of April
Unreal Story of Pro Wrestling
Bandits
Passion of the Christ
Things to do in Denver when you're Dead

I enjoyed all of these, except Unreal story of pro wrestling which was kinda dull.

Barbarian Invasions: a nice, beautiful-in-its-flaws film. I'm so glad I saw it.

Monster: Charlize Theron was terrific. Her body and her voice conveyed more about that character than the make up. Too bad all the direction.

Calendar Girls: the latter half sucked hard, but I'd watch Helen Mirren read the phone book

Quills: Oh my god, I love this movie. I bought without seeing it and it took me forever to watch it, and it was worth the wait.

Forrest Gump *Haven't seen this one since it first came out, I got teary at the end*

The Passion of the Christ *Ummm, violent and thought provoking. Especially if you go see it with your religious friends*

Matchstick Men *I really liked it. It dragged a little in the middle, but the ending more than made up for it, even if it was a wee bit predictable*

Donnie Darko *Second time seeing it, and I liked it even more. I really wish I had seen this in the theaters*

Spun *Fucking awesome.*

Solaris (w/ George Clooney) - Fucking boring as all hell.
8 Legged Freaks - Fantastic. Best picture Oscar material.
Love, Auctually - OK - typical brit comedy, some good one liners fir that Bill Nighly d00d.
Lost In Translation - Enjoyable, tho' overrated.

I don't have a 5th.

Grave of the Fireflies - this has now exceeded Princess Mononoke as my favourite anime. I had to choke back tears after viewing it (maybe i'm getting to gay listening to Xiu Xiu)

Lost in Translation - excellent soundtrack to a solid beautiful little film. If you don't mind the 'slow' pacing of the movie you will appreciate the performances. I haven't seen Mystic River so I guess i'm pulling for Bill Murray at the Oscars.

Phantom Menace (watching now) - damn. I guess Simpsons doesn't compete with the Oscars so Fox is showing Phantom Menace right now......i'll switch between both shows & try to catch the Darth Maul sequences.

Kill Bill - I enjoyed the anime cuts & this is basically live action anime. The viper assasination group (forget their name) and the 'gore' sequences reminds me of anime like Ninja Scroll. Stylistic popcorn fun. Not the best Tarantino but it's not Jackie Brown. Looking forward to seeing the conlusion despite the really lame Uma Thurman trailer for vol.2.

Xiu Xiu: The Sent down girl - was on at 2am on a weekday so I fell asleep watching it.......... I hear it's good

This is where I remind you that the source material, the completely unrelated books the movie came from, is really excellent. The writer is my creative writing instructor.

Band of Brothers miniseries kicks saving private ryans ass all over the place. (pretty much made by the same people that made saving private ryan).
