Yeah but that doesn't make Jews hypocrites because nobody made a fuss about the portrayals in Schindler's List, as you basically said in your original post. It doesn't matter if that movie left someone with greater feelings of animosity towards Nazis, because all Nazis were bad and they deserve people's hatred. If The Passion of The Christ leaves a few people with more animosity towards Jews, which could very well happen, then that's a problem, since not all Jews are bad. Jews aren't being hypocritical at all, their concern about the movie is understandable and legitimate.

No it's not at all. Both are historical events. Oh, I know, let's change history because someone might get their feelings hurt.

In fact, Speilberg should put out an "Amistad" special edition DVD CGI remake where instead of white people, Africans are enslaved by Smurfs.
I'm afraid that movie depicts white Americans in a bad light and I am afraid of repurcussions.

It'd be like brits getting mad and hating americans everytime a movie on the revolutionary war comes out and they are reminded they got their ass kicked...... oh wait lol
Well the idea that Jews killed Christ has been the root of countless acts of persecution against Jews over the past couple of millenia, and there are still people who believe it. Obviously this is a more sensitive issue than usual, one that might cause some added wariness on the Jews' part. But yeah, despite the concerns, most people wouldn't be so dumb as to equate the Jews of today with a group of Jews who lived 2000 years ago.

You certainly have a lot of faith in the impersonal, unbiased, and accurate nature of the Gospels. Personally, I don't think they're quite the historical evidence that photographs and video footage and people's dead relatives and thousands of personal accounts from just 60 years ago are.

White americans don't have a history of persecution by Blacks. The story of Amistad is not an old wound for them.

I guess you're right on one hand though, the hatred of jews by the Palestinians is mainly backlash for the jews taking over their land and building walls to keep them out.

By the way, there wouldn't BE any backlash if groups like the ADL hadn't decided to make this an issue and start all of the protests. It's stupid, and that's why there's backlash.

Sometimes you bring up interesting points, but lately all you seem to do is just straddle the fence so much I'm surprised you don't have vaginal splinters.
It may seem that way because you obviously have more of an agenda in this game than I do. If you're trying to argue with me, we're both going to have a difficult time because none of what you just said conflicts with anything I said, except possibly in terms of language choice. Maybe I should break down the points I was attempting to make:

1. The whole Jewish-Christian conflict was started and is maintained by individuals, not everyone who happens to belong to those groups.

2. Of all the dangers posed to the Jewish race and religion throughout history and all of the dangers in current existence, this movie is not, in my opinion, one people should be concerned about.

3. The ADL (I don't know where ADFL came from, Julio's confusing me now) is one group of people, not the concern or responsibility of the Jewish population, so how did they become "The Jews"?

4. Protesting against the people who are protesting the film is being just as much a part of the whole thing as the people protesting it in the first place. It's also sinking to a whole new level of patheticism that rivals getting drunk at the Olive Garden during a business meeting.

If daring to have perspective is straddling the fence, I'll not only sit on the fence, I'll fuck the post.

Why do I feel compelled to say shit like this? I didn't even want to, but I posted it anyway. I must have a death wish.
