Talking So I'm working on a campaign to legalize pot

Yeah. I'm working on getting an initiative on the Nevada ballot in Nov. that will allow adults over the age of 21 to possess up to 1 ounce of pot in the privacy of their home. It will be sold by tobacco shops that are at least 500 feet from any schools or places of worship. All taxes from the sale of pot will go to schools and treatment programs. And it would double the penalties for selling pot to minors and driving under the influence of pot. Fun, fun. It is quite the controversy here in Vegas.

Good luck on that. If Bush wins in November and Nevada somehow passes it, he'll just push for a constitutional amendment banning the possession of pot. He's a fucking tyrant.

I get the school thing, but churches? WTF?

Also 500 ft really isn't that far, so no biggie. As long as they don't count wedding chapels as places of worship, because then you couldn't buy pot in Vegas.

Eh. I'm not too comfortable with this one, although it makes some sense to legalize it since people will do it anyway.

That's a terrible way to look at things.

"Hey, murders keep on increasing, might as well make them legal."

"Hey, 1 in 4 women will be raped. Might as well allow and openly accept it!"

That's all great, but what's the point? How is it beneficial to people?

It's a terrible way to look at things, sure, but it's the truth. The community might as well benefit by taxes and what-not. And I don't think pot smoking quite equates with murders and rapes. Just my opinion though.

I'm against all drug use, but I think I'm looking at this realistically. However, I'm sure tons of problems will arise from this too.

This initiative will not pass for one reason, wanting to sell it at any tobacco store. If that was not in the initiative I think it would have a decent chance passing but with it there it'll never happen, sadly enough. BUT! If it does....see ya in Nevada.

Dude first off the amount of people driving high then would be close to the amount driving high now. Plus I'm sure the states would love the revenue the arrests would generate with all the new laws they could have just like alcohol. It would boost state economy....just like a new thing here in Chicago. They put up 10 traffic cameras to ticket cars that ran red lights. In a month they made over $100,000 and 50 more cameras are going up. New laws and arrests can be a gold mine for the state. Good for the economy, good for the pot smoker. Plus I drive fine if I've smoked but I don't even own a car. If I did I would often want to get high and then drive somewhere.

I'm willing to bet you don't smoke pot? I'm not for allowing people to drive while high. I hope you understand that.

I live somewhere that I don't have to drive. I don't like to drive. I like living without a car. I lived in rural Kentucky and had to rely on a car. Its not really that much fun. I think I'd be okay.

Dude loosen up. Lifes short, live and let live.

A lot of people *think* they drive fine when they drink.

i don't think people think it's -cool- to drink it up and then go for a drive. it does seem that way in many instances w/ pot, though. (see above)
