Why the fuck would you take shots of those? I remember drinking half a fifth of blackberry brandy. It was the most horrible sickness I've ever had. I had not eaten all day and I just threw up purple liquid for a while.

Scotch & Whiskey go straight up, or on the rocks. Some add a little water.
Malibu you can do the whole tropical-type drink w/ juice of your choice, or with Coke. You can throw the peach schnapps in w/ the fruity mix.
Gin w/ Tonic/Soda water
Drambuie is best w/ a coffee/cappuccino type drink.
Creme de cacao I *think* I remember going well w/ Vodka...and some type of milk or cream. Haven't had that in a long while though.
Baja Luna goes great w/ Kahlua as a shooter.
Baja Rosa goes well w/ a lot of fruity liquors, like an Apple Pucker/Melon flavored type of thing. Odd, but it does.

Scotch (and Bourbon 'Whiskey', it's lesser quality cousin from Kentucky)

These are both good alone warm. Drinking it cold will kill the flavor, only do that if it is cheap shit. Beer is the best chaser/sipper while killing your liver with any of these. Gin.

Like pine trees in a bottle. Mixes well with tonic water (gin and tonic) and vermouth(sp?) (gin martini). I also like it on the rocks (w/ ice) with a good squeeze of lime juice. If your in da hood, Gin n' Juice is always a crowd pleaser (50/50 OJ and Gin)

Vodka.

The no tell drink. This is good because you can easily hide the smell with a breath mint and none are the wiser. Great for drinking at work. It's also a good mix with just about anything. If you have some OJ, Cranberry Juice, fruit juice in general, you have an instant match. One part Vodka, three parts mixer is good to start with. You can also top off lesser alcohols with this, such as Kaluha, Creme, and Vodka. If done with care the three will not mix and create a proper "mud slide" not like that fake shit they sell in a bottle that is mixxed up. Kaluha, milk and vodka make a mighty good drink too. And there is milk in it for those early morning heaves.

Rum (Malibu is rum as well, just flavored)

"Only pirates drink rum, and I've got a pegged leg, mate." It's like Vodka that you can taste. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on who you ask. Oh, and it gives hellish hangovers and scurvy.

Mixes with damn near anything. I like rum with cola (don't waste good stuff, generic brands are actually better for mixing in this case). Again, since you are a begginer, try the one and three mix. (for every shot of hard, you have three shots of mixer). You can also puree fruit (or go to Jamba Juice) and make a darn nice afternoon drink and it has healthy fruit!

If that doesn't do the job for you, just drink from the bottle like a real pirate. Then raid neighboring houses for gold!

Peach Shnapps.

GDD. (girl drink drunk!) When I feel metrosexual, I like to order up a Peach Shnapps, 7up, and cherry juice (for color). It's fruity, it fizzy, and there is no kick. With about twenty or more of these you will catch a buzz.

Peach Shnapps is also good for other girly drinks. Including the Fuzzy varieties, which are anything you can dream of with Peachtree Shnapps, OJ, and Vodka. My favorite is the Fuzzy Everything: One shot of each of the five mains (Tequilla, Rum, Vodka, Scotch, Gin), Peachtree, OJ. Taste like shit, but that only means you should drink it faster or with a straw.

Kaluha and Creme De Cacao

More scooter drinks. While fun, you don't want your friends to catch you. Unless you're a girl. Or metro. Or gay. Then it's cool, drink up.

These can make for some violent hangovers as well. The best thing about that, is they also mix well with coffee to remove those hangovers. Good for early mornings in the office or college exam time.

These can also become some of the most evil drinks when mixed correctly. The slight taste of alcohol covers the heavy taste of alcohol, so Vodka can be slipped in for those late night frat house slumber parties you don't remember going to. This is also usually the answer to "How the hell did I catch pubic lice, I'm a virgin!?"

Drambuie

That one I am not too mucha fan. Mainly because it is not in the five major food groups. Some people do order drinks with those in it, but not too often.

Aftershock, the real drink not the stupid bottled crap with sugar at the bottom, can be made with Dram, Cherry Brandy, Malibu, frozen lemonade mix and sugar. Make this in large batches and serve parties to get rid of things like cherry brandy. Since it's free, people will drink it. Like all party drinks, you can add vodka to this for a bigger kick, and vomit on the couch.

The other stuff, eh, not needed unless you want to make fancy pants drinks to look cool. Which doesn't work. You look like an idiot for spending money buying that crap when you could have doubled up on the actual drinks and bought a quality brand.

i usually take a double jack on the rocks. i don't really think it kills the taste. the last party i threw i used beer as a chaser and went through twelve beer and a quart and a half of whiskey straight from the bottle. mind you i was drinking for about twelve hours.

Not that there is anything wrong with Bourbon, you can catch a good drunkness from it easily, it is just made for ice. I like scotch much, much better.

Yes, when in a tall glass and if you are talking about non-alcoholic creme.. But when mixed in a shot and with alcoholic creme, it is a mud slide.
