The problem is that he wouldn't let them just go and fix it, he had to make a big deal and draw it out the whole day and then reschedule for a week later. He was simply acting as an enabler for the Mayor. Cahoots, I say!

Eh, I don't know if it's as simple as saying 'ok, everyone take out a pen and change that semicolon!' It probably needed to be officially re-drafted, re-printed and then distributed, plus they may not have been able to reschedule any sooner. Ah, red tape

Honestly I just hope that sometime soon they either pass an amendment to make gay marriage illegal or all of the states somehow legalize it. I'm just tired of hearing all of the homosexuals and anti-homosexuals cry about it.
