I use iTunes with the automatic sync and the blue boxes for checking and unchecking what I want on the pod. I think I have 6.2 days worth of music and almost 6 gigs free.

They DID have them. They were lying. They had two in a glass casing which no one ever looks at, hidden behind some clearance merchandise. I scoped around, seen it and told the chick i wanted it. It is $209.98 for the 10gb (if any are still available)

Yeah the box is misleading, it's not indiglo color but I heard there were a few that actually looked like that. Most are like a pastel light blue, but some are white.

to tell you the truth it just looks like a white light. the LCD gives it a grey-ish tone.

Im with you regarding the iRiver Ihp 20. That > iPod. I didn't feel like spending more than 300. If i ever get a better Digital HD player, it will probably be one of those.

Question

in regards to AAC, is there any way to get a plugin or whatnot to encode files to that WITHOUT using iTunes? anyone know? I read on the EAC site that i could encode via AAC if i had FAAC.dll.....

Yeah, that makes sense. I was being serious, too, I hope you enjoy it for years.

I don't know about the AAC but I think I read that the 10g models had white light so that makes sense. I use lame with alt-preset standard to encode my mp3s.

i had loaded it with WAVs initially till i realized that i won't be able to hold as much, and should just give in to Mp3.

Is The Dock really worth it? Im using it via firewire (of which the cable is etremely thin and looks like it would get destroyed fast).

I think its funny how much effort was put into the iPod's packaging. No wonder they're so exspensive!

The dock's only use besides standing the pod upright is that it has a line-out jack on the back. You use the same firewire cable with it, you just plug the wire into the dock instead of into the ipod. I like it but I probably wouldn't spend $60 or whatever they charge for it unless I was using the line-out more often. Its cool to have though. The inline remote is very useful, I didn't think I'd use it at all but its awkward to reach the ipod controls when you're walking around with it in your pocket and the hold switch on. So I've been using the remote when I take it out.

I don't really care about nice features and aethetic design, I just wanted tons of music, I got that 30gig Zen NX, it's filled right up, great sound quality, good battery life and the EAX effects are cool, I'm very happy with it and it was cheap arsed.
