i was a bit disappointed with the early play calling by the Panthers...not enough running plays, and the 1 or 2 carries by Foster in the first half. sure, they weren't getting anywhere early, but they featured a running game that had worn defenses down in the past...i was hoping they'd stick to it a bit more than they did. instead, they had a first half of 0 yards gained until that late scoring strike.

then in the second half they switched things up a bit, changed the pace a bit by giving Foster a few more carries...and things picked up, for Davis as well.

i agree about kicking the extra points, but i don't see those as a game-breaker. pull off that first 2 point attempt, then go for the extra point later when the scored again and Viniateri's field goal ties the game...instead of winning it.

i hated seeing freaking Brady win the MVP again, though. what about freaking Vrabel? he was all over the place...on both defense AND catching a TD on offense!

I like how the game was 0-0 with three minutes left in the first half and ended with more than 50 points being scored.
Yea, it was more poor execution than being crappily coached. The first play fake that the Pats scored on in the red zone was fine, but the 2nd tackle eligible one - which was essentially the same play - was terrible on the Panthers part. Same with the end of the first half, you know they're going deep so as a safety you need to stay behind the deepest reciever. But hey, being a Monday morning qb is easy.

I think the most fun stat of all of this was that all 50+ of those points were scored within about 15 minutes (3 in the 1st, 12 in the 2nd) of actual game-time at the ends of both halfs.

Actually, if the Panthers would have just gone for the extra point both times the Patriots never would have gone for 2 after their last touchdown and we'd have been looking at an overtime game.
