does anyone know anything about video cameras?

i want a digital camera to shoot my own film projects with. yes. i will be editting it digitally because it's cheap. but i want one that will be nice enough to make a decent film with. what price am i looking at? someone i knew who made short films said $3000 will get you one that's good enough. uh. well what do you think?

You can get a pretty good one for between 3 and 4 grand, yes.
