Question ipod people

how long have you had yours and how is your battery? I think mine might be dying. I charged it all day yesterday, used it for maybe 20 before going to sleep, and walking to class today the battery icon went from full to empty in like..5 min, but it was still playing. Now it's up to 1/4. fucker.

Not great.

I've yet to run it all the way down....but I've never really used it more than like 4 hours.

I've had mine since july and recently ran it down over a trip last month. With the volume at 50-70% I think it ended up being around 7 hours. My battery indicator is messed up though, it went from around 80% to 20% in an hour but then that last 20% lasted 3 or 4 hours.

You should just run yours down one day and see how long the battery life actually is. If it's really that bad and not just the icon being messed up then you can get it fixed for free if it's still under warranty (1 year I think).

that's for older versions of the ipod, its moot.

Cool

Just so you guys know, the latest iPod firmware 2.1 has a very buggy battery meter. I don't know if the old firmware was better. But it can be dead empty and still play another 2+ hours sometimes. I think running it all the way out and then charging fully gets it somewhat back on track for a while.. I just did this today and the meter was full but then I synced it and the meter dropped a bunch cause of the partial charge it took, screwing it up again. Lame.

I've had mine for about a year and a half. Earlier in the fall it died and i thought i was going to have to replace the battery. I tried a reset on it and it was still dead. I went through Ipod withdrawal for about a week and decided to give it one more go. So i did the reset again and it started working. It has been working fine ever since then.

i bought my ipod before any of the other players had such large storage capacity, or else I would've considered. *shrug*

yeah i know, but i didn't know if the ipod in question was an older one or not. there is a link at the site that i provided that talks about them implementing the replacement thing.
