um. does this sound like a good enough paper proposal? it's short, but i mean, it's ok, right? just lie to me. and ignore the weird spacing. it's right in msword.

I have decided to cover topic number three regarding the influence of African aesthetics on Modern Art.

First I plan on giving the topic context by explaining the art scene and general culture before Picasso and the influence of African Art. Then I will move into discussing the works of Picasso, Braque, Modigliani, Matisse, Vlaminck and Derain. I will ******* with these comments and explications by the artists themselves along with academic interpretations.

After this rather detailed section I will present my opinion on why I believe these works were or were not done in a spirit of cultural understanding. If I can find enough information about Africans’ response to this Western appropriation of their aesthetics I will ******* that as well, which will serve to inform and support my conclusion.

What I would like feedback on is whether or not I should also discuss works of art influenced by other “primitive” cultures and ideas, or whether it would be better to elaborate on the given selection. I almost think it would better to start with the influence of Japanese art on the formation of Modern Art in the 19th century. Also, I am unsure as to how I should proportion the paper in terms of facts and opinions.

heh. posting this saved my ass. as it turns out, i had saved the file on a mac when the disc was only formatted for a PC (the people who i bought it from said it was fine for both. ok. admittedly, i know nothing about computers.) the consultant person couldn't fix it for me and i was running late and freaking out..but then i'd remembered i'd posted it here and just copy and pasted into word and saved it to my disk on a pc. hallelujah!
