As I understand it though, you can only T@2 the unburned portion of a disc....so how much unburned space do you have on your average cd?

I'm curious, why the external?

I think you can do it on the data part as well. I'm going to burn serials on my discs.

I shopped around, and jacked the company that I bought it from with a 25$ off 200$ coupon code. As well as a 30$ mail in rebate. Pretty fucking good deal for top of the line.

I couldn't find anything on Tom's review about it, I just think I read it on an earlier review of the internal one. Although for just a serial you only need a thin line around the outside anyway.

Nah, I have three computers at home. It's too much effort to move an internal between the three when I need to burn on the others.

Plus the external has three badass blue LED's that make the bottom and tray glow.

how fast can you get a full burn off of that? the fastest I can get mine to go is 5 minutes. (big help when before I used to have 70 minute burns)

yamaha makes some great burners, but the buffer underrun in there might let you down a few times.
from my experience, tdk makes the best ones out right now.

the problem you'll be facing, though, is if one of your computers isnt usb 2.0 enabled you're looking at 4x tops, which makes a whole cd finished in about 45 minutes.

Noyen - I was able to acquire a fairly nice external 2 speed DVD writer /rewriter. I really don't use it all that much though. I think the tag on it was something like 450$
