Will they ever do any new episodes without celeberties or rock stars?

They should make one with Jean Chretien. He is neither a rock star OR a celebrity, yet very easy to laugh at!

Yeah well the one tonight was different, in that it was funny. I damn near pissed my pants when Homer knocked off Elvis Costello's glasses.

"My image!"

That alone made the show worth watching.

ya, the celeb thing is getting old but in this episode, the celebs had the best lines!

"You gotta be at a peak of physical health" (takes a long drag of his smoke)

"I BELIEVE that it came with a pick!"

while the mediocire simpsons episodes are outnumbering the good ones, the show still has good moments and the odd great episode here and there ("Weekend at Burnsies", "Behind the Laughter")

Now Futurama going off the air THAT is a fucking shame! that show is as swingin' as The Simpsons was in its time. just before they hit a syndication deal too. . . fuckin FOX. . .

the halloween episode was decent, so, it raised my hopes for this season, BUT...

tonights episode was horrible. whenever they have guests anymore the episode revolves too much around them, rather than involving them in the episode.
it's just personal opinion, but it was painful to watch the simpsons tonight, and it has been for the past two years. the humor has changed too much for the worse. i want this show to end, soon.

Hah, it's funny that you say that. I didn't think the Halloween episode was very good at all, and I thought tonight's episode was pretty good. I liked the more satirical bent they took with it tonight. I mean, granted, it's not exactly peak Simpsons but it's still better than the rest of television.

Okay, I found out they're running episodes this year that were made during the last few seasons but were never aired. So new, but not really new.

yeah, that's pretty much what I meant, but I didn't clarify.

anyhoo, what happened is FOX ordered the standard amount of episodes for last season and only aired half due to a crappy timeslot & pre-empting for sports. however, they didn't order any new ones. so when these ones run out, Futurama is effectively cancelled and done with. they were about 2 or 3 episodes away from having enough to run into syndication but FOX screwed them on that.

and tonight's episode was hillarious. "Millions of robots are going to be silenced! Oh, the Jedi are going to feel this one . . . "

Yes, I understand now. And yes, I haven't laughed at a TV show for quite a while as much as I did during Futurama tonight. I can never remember all the good jokes after though.

It's really a shame that at the very least Futurama won't be syndicated. I still hold out hopes it will eventually show up on the Comedy Network. I am getting sick of seeing the same re-runs of Kind of the Hill all the time on there.

I still can't believe you guys don't like Family Guy that much. I loved that show. Maybe the characters were a little similar to Simpsons but it was fucking hilarious. Is it on tv at all anymore? I know it's been off fox....what a shame

No show has ever made me laugh close to as often as Family Guy did.

I miss the fuck out of that show.

you're damn right. That show makes me laugh the hardest out of any cartoon...or show for that matter. I remember netphoria rejoicing when it was taken off of Fox's schedule. Fools I tell you.

Family Guy, of all the animated shows on FOX, is definitely the most low-brow and the most bizzare of all the shows out there (and next to how bizzare Futurama is, that's saying something!) but that's why I loved it. I thought it was funny, but it wasn't really all that deep. Like South Park is a good example of low brow & bizzare but does good social and pop culture commentary once in awhile. Simpsons (in its prime) was good at bizzare and funny & emotional without being lowbrow, same with Futurama. (Simpons now is just bizzare, really.)

Family Guy was just bizzare and low brow, but it was funny.

"Giant Chicken . . . gave me a bad coupon. . ."

"Siam. 2015 AD. The city lies in ruins after the 9th Nuclear World war. it is a grim future, filled with lots of explosions and partial nudity."

"Sittin' on a bus! Sittin on a bus!"

"Goooood. Gooood."

Not very deep, but it never pretended too be. But the comparions to The Simpsons were valid in the first season (Lois addicted to gambling / slob of a father / constant "flashbacks" anyone?), but then they really started to find thier own voice by going even more out there to make it distinct - then FOX killed it.

edit: I have NO idea WHY King of the Freakin Hill is still on!! I watched a bit first seson cuz it was on after The Simpsons & made by Mike Judge . . . but . . . but . . . it just sucks! (aside from the conspiracy guy bug exterminator, he's good for a laugh once in awhile)
